Kaitlyn Saunders
Chief Leadership Officer

As Chief Leadership Officer, Kaitlyn leads Capitol City Robotics' Leadership Pathways Program (LPP), which helps students develop the skills, experiences, and opportunities needed to grow as leaders.

She oversees initiatives in Workforce Training, College Readiness, and Community Impact, with a primary focus on identifying emerging leaders, developing training pathways for Mentors, Interns, and Program Managers, and creating opportunities for students to apply their skills through outreach, events, and community partnerships.

Having progressed through multiple leadership roles within Capitol City Robotics (CCR) herself, Kaitlyn brings firsthand experience and a student perspective to preparing the next generation of leaders.

Kaitlyn Saunders is a 10th grade student at School Without Walls High School and serves as Chief Leadership Officer for Capitol City Robotics.

Over the past four years, she has participated in six CCR programs as both a student competitor and student leader. She currently serves as Program Manager for FIRST LEGO League Explore and has previously served as a Mentor in VEX GO, an Intern in FIRST LEGO League Challenge, a Manager-in-Training in the Sphero Bolt+ program, and a Camp Counselor for Capitol City Robotics’ summer camp. Through these experiences, Kaitlyn has progressed through multiple levels of CCR’s student leadership pathway.

Kaitlyn is also an active member of Capitol City Robotics’ competitive teams. She is in her fourth year on the Aerial Drone Competition team, which has won four National Championships. She also competes on the VEX V5 Robotics team, which qualified for and attended the VEX Robotics World Championship.

Outside of robotics, Kaitlyn is very involved in theater and has held lead roles in her school musicals for the past three years. Her experience in performance has helped strengthen her confidence, communication skills, and ability to connect with an audience.

In addition, Kaitlyn is the founder of Build It Better Labs, a world-building STEM initiative where middle and high school students design and build immersive worlds that elementary school students explore and expand through hands-on creativity, engineering, and storytelling.

Kaitlyn is also pursuing her passion for aviation through flight training. She plans to earn her private pilot’s license and hopes to inspire other students to explore leadership, STEM, and future career opportunities.
