summer camp

a summer of science + fun

Capitol City Robotics’ Summer Camp is where curiosity runs wild and learning feels like play.

Each week is thoughtfully designed to spark imagination, build confidence, and keep kids excited to come back day after day.

Our campers spend their days building, experimenting, moving, creating, reading, and collaborating—supported by experienced adult educators and trained high school student leaders. The result is a joyful, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, challenged, and proud of what they create.

Many campers return year after year (and bring siblings and friends!) because each track offers a deep, week-long experience, and families love enrolling for all three tracks to give their child a full summer STEM journey. What began as a small home-based camp has grown into a high-demand summer experience with a waitlist each year. We’re happy to be able to welcome more campers this year.

three tracks

Our camp is organized into three distinct STEM tracks, allowing students to dive deeply into a subject while still enjoying the full summer camp experience. Tracks are offered multiple times throughout the summer, and campers are grouped by age, grade, and experience level. Students who register for multiple weeks follow a continuous curriculum, so learning builds week to week without unnecessary repetition.

Each track blends hands-on projects, real-world science concepts, creativity, and play. Whether your child loves building, experimenting, or asking big “why” questions, there’s a track that will light them up.

robotics & coding

During the one-week Robotics & Coding track, campers explore the robotics design process, learning mechanical engineering, coding, robot programming, and thoughtful design. Students work collaboratively to solve challenges, test solutions, and iterate, building both technical skills and confidence.

We use a wide range of age-appropriate and industry-recognized platforms, including Sphero SPRK+,  VEX Robotics, FIRST Robotics EV3, LEGO Boost, and more. Campers code using Scratch, Blockly, VEXcode, and EV3 Programming, gaining real experience with logic, sequencing, and problem-solving.

chemistry & natural science

During the Chemistry & Natural Science week, campers build a strong foundation in chemistry by starting at the smallest level, the atom, and working their way up to understanding how matter behaves in the world around them. Through guided experiments, students develop scientific thinking skills.

Campers explore the periodic table, construct molecules, and observe chemical reactions. Activities may include color-changing liquids, the sublimation of dry ice, and the elephant’s toothpaste experiment. Students explore astrophysics, including how elements form, behave, and interact in space.

Physics & Circuits

During the Physics & Circuits week, campers explore how electricity and energy power the world around us, starting at the smallest level with the electron. Students build a foundational understanding of physics and electronics through hands-on experiments and guided instruction.

Campers create and test their own circuits while learning how resistors, capacitors, and transistors work together. Using tools like Snap Circuits and Smart Circuits, students solder projects such as a working FM radio they get to keep and explore microcomputers like Raspberry Pi and Arduino.
