Katie Peters joined Capitol City Robotics as our Development Advisor. With a BA in Economics and International Relations from UC Davis, Katie brings a proven track record in fundraising and a deep commitment to education, along with a wealth of experience to our team.
Previously, Katie served as Development Manager for Georgetown Ministry Center, where her exceptional grant writing skills raised an impressive $250,000 annually, supporting vital community initiatives to help people experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC. She also served in the Development Department of Mobile Medical Care, which provides low cost healthcare to underserved families. Her passion for creating enriching educational experiences transcends economic barriers, making her an advocate for accessible education for all.
Katie’s dedication to service is evident through her involvement with organizations like the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Alzheimer’s Association. As an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Washington, DC, she has consistently championed the needs of children in the greater DC area. She has been a member of the Kiwanis Family since she was a freshman in high school, serving as KEY Club President at Salinas High and Circle K Club President at UC Davis and District Treasurer of California, Nevada Hawaii District Circle K. She also coached cheerleading for almost a decade at Roosevelt Elementary School in Salinas, CA.
At Capitol City Robotics, Katie is excited to focus on STEM education, particularly for underserved communities, recognizing that these fields are the jobs of the future. Her expertise and passion will be instrumental in advancing our mission and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a STEM-rich environment.
